People die, literally, because of politics. If Hillary damages Obama and the party to the point that McCain wins the Presidency, and then he starts a war with Iran, well people will be feeling some very personal effects from that. For the people who won't get healthcare, it will be personal. If we pass a global warming tipping point without acting the whole world will feel the consequences.
Furthermore, even business is personal. What about the people who got screwed from Enron? It's personal for them. What about the people losing their jobs to overseas workers who get paid almost nothing? Sure, CEO's might say it's only about the bottom line, and behave accordingly, but that doesn't mean that's how everyone else experiences it.
