For those of you who (like me) are experiencing electoral heartburn, this may settle your stomach a bit
The influence of unions has of coursed waned over the years, but they do still have some influence over an important demographic: working class whites whose economic interests would be better served by dems but who have trouble setting their racial prejudices aside. Fortunately over the last months unions have stepped up efforts to set these people straight.
Is it working? depends on who you ask.
